How to Deposit into a Kid Business Account
Every business needs working capital to get started — whether it’s a chapati stall in Nairobi or an online reselling hustle. Once you’ve set up your kid-run business, the next practical step is funding the business account so transactions can actually flow. This guide walks you through depositing into a KiddyCash kid business account, including what to watch for and how different deposit methods behave.
Before You Deposit
Make sure:
- Your business has completed KYB (Know Your Business) verification. Deposits are blocked on unverified accounts.
- You know your business account ID — you’ll need it for the direct deposit link.
- The source of funds is ready: your KiddyCash wallet, a linked M-Pesa number, or a parent/guardian transfer.
Steps to Deposit
-
Navigate to your business deposit page. Go directly to
https://kiddy.cash/kiddy-business/account/:business_account_id/deposit, replacing:business_account_idwith your actual business account ID. You can find this ID on your business dashboard or in the URL when you’re viewing your business profile. -
Select a deposit source. You’ll see up to three options depending on your setup:
- From your KiddyCash wallet — instant, no fees, ideal for moving your allowance savings into the business.
- Via M-Pesa — enter your Safaricom number, confirm the STK push, and funds reflect within minutes. This is the most common route for kids depositing KES from family members.
- Parent/guardian transfer — a parent linked to your family account can push funds directly into your business account from their side.
-
Enter the deposit amount. Type the amount in KES. There’s a minimum deposit of KES 50. If you’re just testing the flow, keep it small — you can always deposit again later. Note that M-Pesa deposits may carry a small transaction fee depending on your mobile provider.
-
Review and confirm. A summary screen shows the source, destination (your business account), amount, and any applicable fee. Double-check the business account name before confirming — this is especially important if you’re also managing or viewing multiple kid-run businesses under the same KiddyCash account.
-
Save or screenshot your transaction code. After confirming, KiddyCash generates a transaction code. Keep this for your records. If the deposit doesn’t reflect within 5 minutes (especially for M-Pesa), use the transaction code when contacting support.
-
Check your business account balance. Head back to your business dashboard to confirm the funds landed. The balance updates in real time for wallet transfers and usually within 2–5 minutes for M-Pesa.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
-
Deposits are not the same as investments. When you put your own savings into your business, you’re acting as a founder putting in starting capital — which is a real business concept. If you’re curious about the difference between spending, saving, and putting money to work, this piece on why investing is a concept kids can learn earlier than most think breaks it down well.

Talking to family about funding your business? It helps to frame it clearly. This guide on explaining investing to a child without the jargon can actually help you explain your own business goals to a parent or guardian who might fund your first deposit.
-
Deposits into a business account are tracked separately from your personal KiddyCash wallet. Your badge progress and allowance history stay unaffected.
