How to track goal completion
A savings goal is a target amount of money you want to save up for — like new shoes, a school trip, or a gift. KiddyCash lets you watch your progress toward that target so you always know how close you are.
This article explains what the progress indicators mean and when a goal is ready to mark as reached.
Before you start
Make sure you already have a savings goal set up. If you don’t have one yet, ask a parent or guardian to follow the steps in how to create a savings goal for a child. Once a goal exists on your account, you can view your savings goal at any time from your KiddyCash wallet.
Where to find your goal progress
- Open KiddyCash and log in to your kiddy account.
- Go to your Goals page.
- Find the goal you want to check. Each goal card shows:
- The goal name (for example, “New football boots”)
- The target amount (for example, KES 3,500)
- The amount saved so far
- A progress bar — a coloured strip that fills up as you save more
Understanding the progress indicators
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Progress bar is grey or empty | You are just getting started. Keep saving! |
| Progress bar is partially filled | You have saved some money but haven’t reached the target yet |
| Progress bar turns green and reaches 100% | You have hit your target — your goal is ready to mark as reached |
| A ✅ or badge appears on the goal card | KiddyCash has recognised that you completed the goal |
Tip: The percentage shown next to the bar (for example, 74%) tells you exactly how much of the target you have covered. If your target is KES 2,000 and you have saved KES 1,480, your progress will show 74%.
When can you mark a goal as reached?
You can mark a goal as reached when your saved amount equals or exceeds the target amount — in other words, when the progress bar hits 100%.
KiddyCash will not mark the goal as complete automatically. You need to do it yourself:
- Go to your Goals page.
- Tap the goal that has reached 100%.
- Tap Mark as reached.
- Confirm when prompted.
Once marked, the goal moves to your Completed goals list and you may receive a badge for finishing it. Completed goals do not affect your active wallet balance — the money stays in your wallet unless you or a parent moves it.
What counts as “saved”?
Money moves into a goal from your KiddyCash wallet. This can come from:
- Allowances sent by a parent or guardian
- Business earnings if you run a kiddy business (for example, selling snacks at school in Nairobi or receiving payments via M-Pesa through your KiddyCash business link)
- Manual transfers you make from your wallet into the goal
Only money that has been allocated to the goal counts toward the progress bar. Money sitting in your general wallet but not assigned to this goal does not count.
