How to submit KYC from your profile
Before you can send money, receive payments, or top up a child’s wallet on KiddyCash, you need to complete an identity check called KYC. If you are not sure what that term means, read our guide on what KYC means in KiddyCash first — it explains the process in plain language.
KYC stands for Know Your Customer. It is a one-time verification step that confirms you are who you say you are. Once approved, most real-money actions on your account are unlocked: topping up allowances, withdrawing to M-Pesa, sending KES to a school wallet, and more.
Before you start
Make sure you have the following ready:
- A valid government-issued ID — a Kenyan national ID, passport, or driving licence all work.
- A clear photo of your face (you will take this inside the app — no need to upload a selfie separately).
- Good lighting and a stable internet connection.
Steps to submit your KYC
-
Sign in to your KiddyCash account on the mobile app or web.
-
Go to your profile. Tap the profile icon in the top-right corner of the home screen.
-
Open the verification section. You can reach it directly at https://kiddy.cash/profile/know-your-customer. Look for the Verify Identity card — it will show a banner if your account is still unverified.
-
Select your ID type. Choose from national ID, passport, or driving licence. If you are in Kenya, your national ID is the fastest option because the number can be checked against government records automatically.
-
Enter your ID details. Type in your ID number and your full name exactly as it appears on the document. A mismatch — even a missing middle name — can cause your submission to be rejected.
-
Upload photos of your ID. You will be asked to photograph the front of your ID, then the back. Hold the card flat, make sure all four corners are visible, and avoid glare from sunlight or a screen.
-
Take a selfie check. The app will ask you to look at the camera and sometimes follow a short prompt (such as blinking or turning your head slightly). This liveness check confirms a real person is submitting the documents, not a photo of a photo.
-
Review and submit. You will see a summary of everything you have uploaded. Check the details, then tap Submit for Review.
-
Wait for the result. Most submissions are reviewed within a few minutes. You will receive a push notification and an in-app badge once your identity is confirmed. If additional checks are needed, it may take up to 24 hours.
What happens after approval
Once KYC is approved, you will see a Verified badge on your profile. You can now run allowance campaigns, link a family wallet, and transact freely within your account limits.
If you run a business on KiddyCash, note that business accounts require a separate process called KYB. See what KYB means for a business account to understand what documents you will need.
Troubleshooting common issues
- Blurry photos — retake in natural light, away from direct sunlight.
- Name mismatch — use the name on your ID, not a nickname or shortened version.
- Selfie failure — ensure your face is fully in the frame and remove glasses or a hat if prompted.
