Viewing Kid Business Analytics

The analytics dashboard gives you a live read on how your KiddyCash business is performing — not just what came in, but when, how often, and through which channels. If you’re already comfortable checking your business accounts and reviewing individual sales, analytics is where patterns start to emerge.

Getting to the Dashboard

Head directly to your analytics dashboard from the KiddyCash app. You’ll need to be logged in as the business owner or have a linked kid account with business access enabled.

From the main navigation:

  1. Tap My Business in the bottom nav
  2. Select your business name
  3. Tap the Analytics tab

What You Can See

The dashboard surfaces several metric categories. Here’s what each one tells you:

MetricWhat it showsWhy it matters
Total RevenueCumulative earnings over a selected periodTracks overall business growth
Transaction VolumeNumber of completed salesSeparates busy periods from high-value ones
Average Transaction ValueRevenue ÷ transaction countTells you if customers are spending more per visit
Revenue TrendDay-by-day or week-by-week chartSpots growth, slumps, or seasonal patterns
Top Payment ChannelsBreakdown by M-Pesa, wallet transfer, cash, etc.Useful if most of your customers pay one way
Repeat CustomersReturning vs. new buyersSignals loyalty — important for small businesses
Badge MilestonesBadges earned based on business performanceTracks recognition tied to revenue and activity goals

Reading the Trend Chart

The revenue trend chart defaults to the last 30 days. You can switch between:

  • 7 days — useful for a recent market day or school sale
  • 30 days — standard month view
  • Custom range — helpful if you ran a campaign with a specific start and end date

Spikes in the chart usually correspond to events: a school market in Nairobi, a weekend where you promoted your business to neighbours, or a campaign you ran through KiddyCash. Cross-referencing those dates with your transaction history helps you understand exactly what drove the spike.

Currency and Localisation

All revenue figures display in KES by default if your account is set to Kenya. If your family account uses a different currency, analytics will reflect that. M-Pesa transactions are tagged separately from wallet-to-wallet transfers, so you can see which payment method your customers prefer.

Filters and Segments

Use the filter bar at the top of the analytics page to narrow data:

  • By product or service — if you sell more than one thing, compare which earns more
  • By payment method — see how much came through M-Pesa vs. KiddyCash wallet
  • By time period — already covered above, but worth combining with other filters

Filtering by product is especially useful if you’re deciding what to focus on — for example, if your snack sales consistently outperform your craft items, that’s a signal worth acting on.

What Analytics Doesn’t Show

Analytics covers completed transactions. It won’t show:

  • Pending or failed payments (check the transactions view for those)
  • Money held in escrow or awaiting approval
  • KYB verification status

For account balances and fund movements, the business accounts view gives you more detail.
