How to verify your phone number for OTP login
Phone verification is one of the first things you will do when you set up your KiddyCash account. It connects your mobile number to your account so that KiddyCash can send you a one-time password (OTP) — a short, temporary code delivered by SMS — whenever you log in or need to recover access to your account. Without a verified number, these flows will not work.
This guide walks you through the process from start to finish.
What you need before you start
- A working mobile number (any network — MTN, Airtel, Safaricom, and others are supported)
- Access to that phone to receive an SMS
- A KiddyCash account, or the intention to create one
If you are logging in for the first time, head to https://kiddy.cash/login to begin.
Steps to verify your phone number
-
Open the KiddyCash login page. Go to https://kiddy.cash/login in your browser or tap Log In inside the KiddyCash app.
-
Enter your registered phone number. Type your number in international format. For example, a Nairobi-based user on Safaricom would enter
+254 7XX XXX XXX. Do not use a local prefix like07— the+254country code is required. -
Tap “Send OTP”. KiddyCash will send a 6-digit code to your number by SMS. This usually arrives within a few seconds, but may take up to one minute depending on your network.
-
Open your SMS inbox. The message will come from KiddyCash and will look something like: “Your KiddyCash verification code is 482917. Do not share this with anyone.”
-
Type the code into the OTP field. Enter all six digits exactly as they appear. The code is case-sensitive and expires after 10 minutes.
-
Tap “Verify”. If the code matches, your phone number is confirmed and you will be logged in or taken to the next step of account setup.
-
Save your number safely. If you switch SIM cards or lose access to this number, account recovery becomes harder. Keep your number up to date in your profile settings.
If you did not receive the code
- Wait the full minute before requesting a new code.
- Check that you entered your number correctly, including the country code.
- Make sure your phone has network signal and is not in airplane mode.
- Tap Resend OTP if the option appears on screen.
- If you use M-Pesa or any mobile money service on a second SIM, make sure you are checking the inbox for the correct line.
If the problem continues, contact KiddyCash support through the Help section in the app.
Why phone verification matters
Phone verification is part of how KiddyCash protects families, kids’ wallets, and business accounts from unauthorised access. It is also connected to the broader identity checks on the platform.
